Private Lesson Information
We are very fortunate to provide an amazing opportunity for our young musicians to enrich their music experience. We are proud to have some of the state’s finest musicians on our private teaching staff! Many of our teachers have degrees in music and are professional musicians and teachers in the Dallas area.
WHY TAKE LESSONS?
Due to many factors, a group band class is limited in its pace and in the amount of material that can be covered. Since private instruction is tailored to the individual student’s needs, a student can be guided beyond these limitations. Small problems can be recognized and corrected. Fundamental concepts will be reviewed and reinforced. Students who are ready to move beyond the pace of the class will be guided by a knowledgeable professional. In short, private lessons open the door to a world of possibilities! It is generally true that the best musicians in any music program are involved in the private lesson program.
We highly encourage participation in the program as a means of further enrichment, enjoyment, and maximizing one’s fullest potential.
HOW MUCH ARE LESSONS?
The current lesson rate is $22.00 for a 25 minute lesson. This rate is set by the district and is subject to change. Given the experience and credentials of many of our teachers, this rate is quite a bargain!
HOW ARE LESSONS SCHEDULED?
Lessons are scheduled at the private teacher’s discretion. Their schedules can be complicated - they travel to several campuses during their week.
GENERAL GUIDELINES
In order for the student to gain from supplementary lessons, he/she should be as prepared as possible for each lesson. The student should certainly work on the music we're doing in class; however, the student should work hardest on private lesson material assigned for specific reasons by the private teacher.

- Contact the private teacher 24 hours in advance of an absence. (This courtesy will also be extended to you by the instructor)
- Please discuss any concerns that you ever have with the private teacher. Keep the lines of communication open!
- Be prompt with payment for lessons. Payments are generally due at the beginning of each month.
- Consistent practice is essential for musical proficiency to increase.
